Aleksandr Biruk is a Belarusian artist living and working in Warsaw.
He likens his creative process to that of a composer. He creates visual music, transferring the emotional state of his images to his audience through the interplay of form, colour and silhouettes. His process brings him great joy, and this joy can be felt when viewing his images.
"I see my painting practice more like music or poetry. Music is abstract, its composition is subject to mathematical laws - but in its abstractness, it can translate the depth of meaning. I am very passionate about creating such visual-musical compositions. Figurativity, being the second layer in my paintings, I consider as words in a song, superimposed on music and subordinated to its structure. In painting, I am particularly interested in how these abstract accents are distributed over recognizable figurative forms - creating very rhythmic poetry.
Biruk made several monumental projects, among them are:
- A painting of a bridge in Ivatsevichi within the ArtLocation project.
- Paintings for the center of Habilitation for adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) "Anton Tut Ryadom" ("Anton’s Right Here") in St. Petersburg. - Paintings for the Zoon in Moscow.
- A large monumental project that included more than 60 square meters of wall painting and more than 11 square meters of stained glass.
Aleksandr Biruk’s works are in various private collections in the US, UAE, Germany, Poland, Taiwan and Georgia.
